A university accepting OSR for undergraduate admission does not guarantee its postgraduate or professional programmes do. Nursing, medicine, law and teaching programmes frequently apply stricter English requirements than the university's general policy, because a professional registration body sits behind them.
Check the admissions page for your exact course, and if it is silent on OSR, email and ask before booking. A one-line email now is cheaper than a wasted ₹6,000 and a lost 60-day window.
Your OSR score replaces your original score for that skill — whether it goes up or down. If you scored 6.5 in Writing and retake it, a 6.0 on the day becomes your new Writing score. There is no "best of both" safety net.
